La FIBA U19 World Cup for Women which will be held this summer in Madrid (July 15-23) takes on a new dimension with a revolutionary element never seen in a top-level official FIBA competition: an innovative glass floor as a playing surface. The best young players on the planet will be the privileged ones in charge of release this avant-garde surface in one of the most important FIBA events.
This revolutionary surface, rigorously tested and evaluated by FIBA’s Equipment and Venue Center Approval programreinforces one of FIBA’s strategic priorities, innovation to make the FIBA family grow.

For his part, Jorge Garbajosapresident of the Spanish Basketball Federation, expressed his joy at being able to debut this revolutionary surface at a FIBA event in the Women’s U19 World Cup to be held in Madrid from July 15 to 23. “We are happy to inaugurate this new ground and in the year of the centenary of the FEB. As a former player I am convinced that opening this new surface will be an incentive for the players and as the host country it will increase our possibilities from the point of view of marketing and branding for advertising purposes and it will enhance the fan experience for sure.”

This glass surface will debut in the final phase of the FIBA U19 World Cup for women which will be held in the WiZink Center of Madrid and it will be possible thanks to the change in regulations announced last year by the Centra Board allowing the use of a LED glass surface in FIBA level 1 competitions.
