Alpine skiing: men’s descent in Aspen NOW in the live ticker

Josef Ferstl (GER): Josef Ferstl is shouted out of the start house by his supervisors. What else is possible for him? In the flat section he is definitely there, because only a few were able to match Kilde’s top time, but even then Ferstl does not get up to speed and can increase the pressure. He’s always a little behind and it goes down to 14th at 1.28 seconds.

Stefan Rogentin (SUI): Stefan Rogentin is the next Swiss on the slope, but he can’t push forward and despite good visibility, he only gets eleventh place. He will not be able to crack his previous best result of the season.

Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (NOR): Yesterday Adrian Smiseth Sejersted with start number one benefited after a top run and was in the lead for a long time before he was stopped. Today he shows that it wasn’t a random trip! He comes through the flat section cleanly, is the first rider to come very close to Kilde and should be really annoyed that the big mistake will come next. He risks a lot, then drives past the gate and is eliminated. Without the mistake, the podium would certainly have been possible.

Matteo Marsaglia (ITA): Matteo Marsaglia is next on the piste, but it’s also clear to him early on that there won’t be much going forward. Even before it goes up the steep slope, he is already more than a second behind. At the finish it is 1.75 seconds and only the last place.

Travis Ganong (USA): Travis Ganong is facing his last career races, but at the finish you can see that he has planned a lot more today. With a deficit of 1.17 seconds, he has nothing to report and finds himself in twelfth place in front of his home crowd.

Vincent Kriechmayr (AUT): Now it’s all about the little crystal ball. Can Vincent Kriechmayr keep his chance open? For that he has to take the lead now, but Kilde’s time was really good and the ÖSV downhill rider seems to have a hard time with it. He’s already a long way behind at the top and can’t make up for it at the bottom after taking the corners too directly. He finishes fourth and that’s the deciding round of the ball. Kilde can no longer be caught.

Niels Hintermann (SUI): The next Swiss attacks with Niels Hintermann. Visibility has improved in front of him and the sun comes in easily, but the back man can’t attack either. He is too passive and loses time as a result. With 85 hundredths, it falls back to fifth place.

James Crawford (CAN): James Crawford is much closer in the flat part, but then he makes a serious mistake when he approaches the gate too directly and loses almost four tenths towards the Kilde time. In the second part he falls back a bit, but he can keep ahead of Odermatt and is now second.

Marco Odermatt (SUI): Marco Odermatt is the next starter looking to attack Kilde’s best time. But he is also constantly losing time in the upper part. A mistake could not be identified, maybe the wind also played a role? Due to his technique, Odermatt can make up time again on steep slopes, but it’s not enough to catch Kilde. Odermatt comes in second.

Daniel Hemetsberger (AUT): At the beginning of the season, Daniel Hemetsberger was able to push himself onto the podium, how does it fit together with the ÖSV athlete today? In the flat he is already far behind and almost a second behind Kilde. Can he catch up on the steep? No. Hemetsberger catches a punch, loses the line and can’t catch up. With eighth place, he won’t play a role today.

Johan Clarey (FRA): Johan Clarey is among those heading into the final races of a long career. The Frenchman can’t dethrone Kilde, but with second place he’s certainly in for a place where the best positions are at stake.

Mattia Casse (ITA): The next Italian throws himself out of the starting gate, but he can’t put Kilde under any pressure. He’s clearly behind early on and he can’t get anything out of the lower part either. His gap is increasing and he comes through more than a second behind. He can only outperform Alexander.

Aleksander Aamodt Source (NOR): Aleksander Aamodt Kilde has the chance to bring the small ball home today. If he makes it into the top 5, it will be impossible for Kriechmayr to catch him. And the Norwegian shows why he is so confident in the lead! He delivers a top ride, doesn’t let light knocks unsettle him and finds a good line. With a 1:31.60 he swings away as the sovereign leader. Kilde celebrates in the target area and has taken a big step towards the ball with this run.

Dominik Paris (ITA): Dominik Paris got back in shape at the World Cup and today the Italian star starts with a top time in the first part. He tries to use a tight line but stays compact and has a good lead. But even he can’t get through the lead! But there is still enough space. Together with teammate Schieder he is the new first.

Romed Baumann (GER): The first German couldn’t finish his run. Does it now fit together better for Romed Baumann? He is strong at the top, getting good speed and time and has an advantage in the beginning. But the last few runs have shown that you can still lose a lot down there. This is what happens to Baumann too. He slides too much, doesn’t corner properly and gambles away his advantage. He crosses the finish line nine hundredths behind.

Cameron Alexander (CAN): Cameron Alexander is the next starter to attack the best time. It goes into the steep with a head start. Does it go to first position? No! Mistakes in the lower section cost him time and he falls back to last place.

Thomas Dressen (GER): Now it already applies to Thomas Dreßen! What is possible for the German? He’s great through the flat part and can already gain a four-tenth advantage. But then the bottom wave made a mistake and he was very lucky that it didn’t lift him out of there and he fell! He drives past the gate and is eliminated. Dreßen shakes his head at the finish.

Florian Schieder (ITA): Florian Schieder is the next athlete to set off on the journey. In the upper part he is weaker than the ÖSV man, but he can get something out of the bottom and takes first place at the finish. But his time shouldn’t put the other athletes under pressure either.

Otmar Striedinger (AUT): Otmar Striedinger from the Austrian team is who will open the downhill in Aspen today. The piste is one of the easier ones in the World Cup, but there are a few key points that you have to master cleanly. Striedinger pushes me vigorously with his poles and he masters the wave properly. After that, however, mistakes keep creeping in and at the finish he may not be really happy with his ride. There was still more possible. He presents a 1:32.67

Before start: It’s still slightly windy today, but there’s currently no snow in sight. In the morning, the race organizers were still considering starting from the Super-G start, but that is now off the table as well, as the wind is not so strong that it slows down the drivers too much up in the flat.

Before start: Marco Odermatt, who was one of those who did not hide his opinion about the chaotic race yesterday, starts today with starting number eleven. Shortly afterwards, Niels Hintermann will be in 13th place. Stefan Rogentin (18) also has a number that can be used to do something. Gilles Roulin (24), Justin Murisier (30), Alexis Monney (35), Lars Rösti (47), Marco Kohler (49) and Franjo von Allmen (50) are also starting today.

Before start: Vincent Kriechmayr (14) is certainly one of the hottest irons in the fire for the Austrians. For him today it’s about putting everything in and keeping the minimum chances open in the direction of the downhill ball. Daniel Hemetsberger (10) must also have planned something for today’s competition. Otmar Striedinger is the first athlete to hit the slopes. Marco Schwarz (31), Daniel Danklmaier (37), Stefan Babinsky (48), Andreas Ploier (57) and Raphael Haaser (59) complete the large squad from Austria.

Before start: The German team is again led by Thomas Dreßen, who will be the third athlete to take to the track. Romed Baumann (5) also has one of the early start numbers. Josef Ferstl (19), Dominik Schwaiger (23), Andreas Sander (29) and Simon Jocher (33) complete the six-man squad of the German Ski Association in the downhill.

Before start: After yesterday not much went on the “Ruthie’s Run” slope, today it’s time for the stars of the scene to attack again. One of the top favorites is certainly Aleksander Aamodt Kilde from Norway, who also holds the lead in the downhill World Cup and could put the lid on today. To do this, he must maintain his lead over Vincent Kriechmayr by more than 100 points. In addition to them, you also have to have Marco Odermatt on the list. The Swiss had not yet won the World Cup this season, but was able to win the World Championship race. Johan Clarey should also be noted. The American will certainly put everything back on his last career descent.

Before start: Day two at the Men’s World Cup in Aspen. Yesterday the World Cup in Colorado started with a downhill run, it should have started sooner. Due to bad weather conditions, the race was stopped after only 23 athletes and was canceled in order not to endanger the safety of the starters. Today we continue with another descent. Tomorrow the alpine skiing weekend in Aspen will end with a Super-G.

Before start: The race in the Rocky Mountains starts at 7 p.m. German time.

Before start: Hello and welcome to the second men’s downhill in Aspen (USA).
