Casini ‘resources, stadiums and education the pillars of Italian football’ – Calcio

(ANSA) – LONDON, MARCH 02 – In a few days he will celebrate his first (“busy”) year as president of Lega Serie A and Lorenzo Casini, a guest at a conference on football and finance in London, presented the main challenges ahead the A.

“I have inherited a difficult situation, and not just because of the pandemic – he declared at the Business of Football Summit -. However, we immediately tried to intervene to improve Italian football. As for the sale of TV rights abroad: thanks intervention by the government, limitations were eliminated which made negotiations with foreign interlocutors much more complicated”. Three priorities set by Casini to relaunch the top Italian championship. “We call them the three pillars on which our football should rest: more income and more resources, better infrastructure and more education, for football to be a push towards change”.

In front of the audience of the summit organized by the Financial Times, Casini recalled the opening of two representative offices, in New York and in the Middle East, to raise awareness of the Serie A brand: “Those who invest in Italian football do so mainly because they see great unexplored potential, and why he loves this country. We must exploit our characteristics to attract more capital and investors”.

In the presence of the economic overwhelming power of the Premier, Casini defended the competitiveness of Italian football. “The economic aspect is obviously very important, but before making certain judgments it would be useful to also take account of sporting results, at club and national level.” Exploits which, however, always have to deal with the main obstacle to the development of Italian football, bureaucracy. “Football mirrors Italy, where building has always been a problem for various reasons. In this sense, I am confident that the new sports minister, Abodi, will be of help to us. Just as the push that would give us to organize a European”.

Finally the Superlega: “The main thing is to understand in depth the reasons that pushed those clubs down that path. The answer should be greater cooperation between the leagues, at a European level” (ANSA).
