Badminton was the protagonist

The event was expected to be exciting, as well as competitive, and it did not disappoint. Palencia was a badminton city this weekend, since it hosted two Spanish championships, one under 11 and the other under 19.

It is emotional to see how the Municipal Pavilion fills up in the Zunder Palencia matches every day, but it is also special to see how good it looks in other types of sporting events. The venue, perfectly decorated and appropriate for the occasion, received dozens of fans, athletes, family members and other visitors who enjoyed the tournament from Friday until yesterday.

Winners. The players began to fight for the medals on Friday, when the starting signal was given to a weekend in which the flyers did not stop flying through the Municipal Sports Pavilion.

The finals were played yesterday morning, and that’s where things got serious. The athletes knew that they could have a place on the national podium and they worked hard to be able to hang some medals that were placed by the mayor of Palencia, Mario Simón; the Councilor for Sports, Víctor Torres; the president of the territorial, Juan Manuel Barrera; and the vice president of the Spanish Badminton Federation; and the member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Badminton Federation, Ernesto Baschwitz.

The winners were the following: Xoel Álvarez (IM sub11), Xulia Otero (IF sub11), Pedro Jesús Carmona and Álvaro Millán (DM sub11), Maia Freire and Xulia Otero (DF sub11), Xoel Álvarez and Xulia Otero (DX sub11) , Daniel Franco (IM sub19), Nikol Carulla (IF sub19), Ricardo Rettig and Rodrigo Sanjurjo (DM sub19), Nikol Carulla and Lucía Rodríguez (DF sub19) and Ricardo Rettig and Carmen María Jiménez (DX sub19).
