Clarisse Agbégnénou enters the Grévin Museum

The wax statue of Clarisse Agbégnénou, flag bearer of the French delegation to the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, will be officially presented to visitors this Tuesday, October 4. She will be installed in the space dedicated to athletes where she will rub shoulders with that of her sidekick Teddy Riner. “It’s a won bet, it’s so well done! Suddenly, there will be no judo hold (on my statue)joked the judoka. It’s a real honor, it was not a dream for me. But I’m so proud to tell myself that I’m going to be able to go to the museum and say “Wow, that’s me!”

At 29, Clarisse Agbégnénou has the best record of French women’s judo with five world titles, five European titles and two gold medals won at the Tokyo Games last year. After a break due to maternity leave, she resumed training this summer for the Paris Olympics in 2024. “I don’t know yet what my deadlines will be.said the young woman. For now, I’m training because I’m trying to get back to my best shape, to stabilize myself in terms of weight because it’s not easy after a pregnancy. Above all, I don’t want to return to a competition to injure myself, less than two years from the Olympic Games. I will return next year in the best conditions. »
