[오늘뉴스=이영노 기자]Wonkwang University’s badminton team won 3 gold medals in the national competition held from April to July.

Wonkwang University won the team event at the National Badminton Championships during the President’s period in April, followed by the team championship, individual doubles, and individual singles runner-up at the Jeonghyang-nuri National Federation Badminton Championships held in May. He also won the team event and finished third in the individual singles event at the championships.

As a result, the team won the national championship for the third time in a row this year alone.

Chairman Seong Si-jong and President Park Meng-soo said, “The meaning of it is unique as we overcame hard training and achieved good results one after another.”

Meanwhile, Wonkwang University’s badminton club, founded in 1975, has produced many stars representing Korea, including Kim Moon-soo, gold medalist at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Kim Dong-moon, gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and Kim Dong-moon/Ha Tae-kwon, a gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He won one and three bronze medals and rose to a prestigious position in badminton.
