Apple TV+ will broadcast American football

After American baseball with the MLB, it’s American football’s turn to put on its cleats on Apple TV+: Apple just announced a 10-year partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) to broadcast all major league soccer (football played on foot) starting in 2023. As with baseball, there will be matches live as well as additional exclusive content. MLS will take the form of an additional subscription within the Apple TV application, but certain matches will be accessible at no additional cost for Apple TV+ subscribers.

This new partnership covers the whole world. “For the first time in sports history, fans will be able to access all content from a major professional sports league in one place.”rejoices Eddy Cue. “It’s a dream come true for MLS fans, football fans, and anyone who loves the sport. No fragmentation, no frustration! » All matches will be commentated in English and Spanish, and there will also be French for matches involving a Canadian club. Details of this new program will be announced in the coming months.

This is the second big sports contract for Apple TV + and it is rumored that Apple would be interested in the TV rights of a myriad of other sports, for the moment only representative of the American market but which we quickly imagine s expand to Europe. Apple’s competitors are also ahead: in France, Amazon has been broadcasting Ligue 1 football for example since last season, as has the Roland Garros tennis tournament.
