The Bulgarians’ accident happened on Friday after their arrival in Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, where they will play their fourth group game on Sunday (6:00 p.m.).
On the way to the team hotel, the driver of the first of the two buses lost control of the vehicle, which led to the serious accident.
After the collision, Nedelew was transported to a local hospital. The midfielder underwent surgery there as quickly as possible.
As the Bulgarian association announced, the operation was successful. Nedelev, who played for FSV Mainz 05 from 2014 to 2016, is still being treated in hospital.
The association wants to inform its fans promptly about the condition of Nedelev and his healing process.
One thing is certain: the ex-Mainzer was the only one seriously injured in the accident. His teammates, coaches and supervisors are doing well.
