The second registration period for Sports Schools is open

EXTRAS

After the Christmas school holidays, the second term of the Valencia Sports Schools will begin. For this reason, the Municipal Sports Foundation (FDM) of the Valencia City Council has announced the opening of registrations for new students. The procedure is aimed at schools and sports federations who, between today, December 17, and January 13, may request, on the one hand, the expansion of groups and, on the other, the enrollment of boys and girls in those groups that started in October, but they still have free places.

The Sports Schools are held in numerous educational centers in Valencia, as well as in various municipal sports facilities such as the Turia Stadium or the sports centers of Benimaclet, Benicalap, Cabanyal-Canyamelar, Fuensanta, Malva-rosa, Natzaret and La Petxina.

Minors interested in being part of these sports schools should contact the corresponding sports federation or their school, if this is part of the Municipal Sports Schools program. The offer of groups and activities can be consulted on the website fdmvalencia.es/es/deporte-escolar

On the other hand, those schools or institutes that are not yet attached to the initiative and wish to be part of the Sports Schools, can request it through the email [email protected], from the address or the Association of Mothers and Parents of the Students (AMPA).

The 2021-2022 season of the Sports Schools includes more than 20 disciplines. Among them, chess, athletics, badminton, basketball, handball, colpbol, fencing, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, hockey, karate, racquetball, volleyball, table tennis, Valencian pilota, women’s football, futsal, rugby, triathlon or water polo. In addition, as a novelty, this year rowing and paddle tennis activities have also been introduced. Finally, adapted sports are also offered (FESA and FEDI) and the modalities of basic and pre-sport physical activity for boys and girls from four to six years old and from six to eight years old, respectively.

Course prices range between € 75 and € 85 per student, with the exception of some disciplines –such as paddle tennis or chess– which have a lower teaching load, of only one hour a week. The activities take place during non-school hours on working days and always under the direction of qualified sports technicians.

Likewise, the student body benefiting from aid to defray school lunch expenses will be able to benefit from discounts of up to 70 euros in the price of the Schools. On the other hand, the Municipal Sports Foundation offers free places for girls and boys who prove that they are in a situation of social vulnerability.

The Municipal Sports Schools are promoted by the Municipal Sports Foundation of the Valencia City Council in collaboration with the different sports federations. Thanks to them, we work to promote physical and sports activity among minors, as well as the promotion of sports values such as coexistence, respect, equality or solidarity.
