OL end with a tasteless draw against Rangers

We should not expect much in this meeting without a stake (OL assured of being first in its group and in the round of 16, Rangers second and in the sixteenth), but, even freed from the weight of the qualifying, the two teams did not offer much play. A rather logical score, then.

Proof among others of this lack of offensive impetus, the two goals were scored after a defensive error. The first, for Glasgow, came from a low-ground strike from Scott Wright, quite free at the entrance to the surface, deflected at the bottom by Damien Da Silva (42nd). And the second, in favor of Lyon, was caused by Rayan Cherki (49th, see below).

With, of course, a very revamped and rejuvenated eleven and an opponent who died in the second act, the Lyonnais, unbeaten in the group stage, conceded a new goal and, despite everything, completed a third game in a row without victory, after the defeat against Reims (1-2) and the draw in Bordeaux (2-2) in the Championship. Above all, Karl Toko Ekambi came out shortly before the break, grimacing, which could be another worry for Peter Bosz.

At Groupama Stadium, the Rangers scored their third goal against their side of the season in the Europa League. A record in the history of the C3, even before the knockout phase.

The player: Cherki, man of Europe

Established to the right of the 4-2-3-1 Rhone, but often present in the axis, Rayan Cherki once again sounded the revolt of OL in C3. Already author of a double at Brondby (3-1) during the previous day, the crack of the Lyon training center saw his shot brought in the frame by Calvin Bassey, at the start of the second period, and almost offered the goal success for Islam Slimani at the end of the match (90th).

Cherki has only been decisive on the European scene, in club, this season. Substitute against Reims and remained on the bench in Bordeaux, he may have won the right to hold in Lille on Sunday (1 p.m.).
