US Open winner Raducanu received some advice from Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton

“He was a really great role model for me and helped me a lot with the next steps. He is a great person,” said Raducanu.

The seven-time world champion and compatriot of the young sportswoman gave her a few tips, said Raducanu: “He gave me the advice to be patient and keep riding the wave. He’s a super nice person.”

So keep your fingers crossed for him in the race for Britain’s Sports Personality of the Year award. The US Open winner is nominated in the same category as Hamilton.

“I don’t think about this award. It seems so surreal to me. It was just super nice that he helped me,” continued Raducanu.

Raducanu: “Pressure is a privilege”

In general, she hardly cares about other people’s opinions and expectations. For her it is “only about my own opinion and that I keep improving”. And further: “Pressure is a privilege. I hope that I will continue to perform well anyway.”

However, Raducanu did not reveal whether she adopted this attitude from 17-year-old Hamilton.
