Transler CSB’s third win of the season

The Transler Club Soria Baloncesto has recovered from the four consecutive defeats it had accumulated and this Sunday achieved its third win of the season.

By 69-62 he defeated in the San Andrés Sports Center to the Palencia UEMC-San Remo Basketball Club in a duel that is on the way to becoming a classic in the Men’s First Division.

On the previous occasion in which both teams faced each other, in the last edition of the Castilla y León Cup, the Soria Baloncesto Club won by a meager income against a Palencia Basketball Club that would end up winning the title.

On Sunday, the final leg of a vibrant third quarter and full of incentives and intensity is what allowed the Transler to overcome an adverse 36-47 and head towards victory.

De Domingo, the Transler captain in the absence of Carlos Romano – recently operated on for appendicitis – scored 26 points in 39 minutes, the same time that Alvira played, author of 11 points, the same amount that Eneko Cueto accumulated off the bench.

The Transler curdled a game very complete in defense, although it was not very successful under the rival ring, especially in the first half.

The halfway point of the clash would be reached with a tie at 28 on the scoreboard and with 13 points already scored by Gonzalo de Domingo.

The relaxation of Club Soria Baloncesto after the break allowed the Palencia UEMC-San Remo Basketball Club to acquire an advantage that would reach 36-47 at 1:45 by the end of the third quarter. A time-out of Fernando Flores marked the beginning of the Transler comeback.

Five points from Eneko Cueto, three from Gonzalo de Domingo and two from Javier Zulaica made it 46-47 on the scoreboard at the end of the third quarter.

The reaction of Club Soria Baloncesto would not stop there because in the last quarter he converted another nine points (five from Alonso Alvira and four from De Domingo) before Palencia scored a basket again. From 36-47 it had gone to 55-50 and ahead there were 8:04 to go. At that time, Transler once again exhibited their usual intensity in defense and never gave the feeling that the victory against the Palencia UEMC-San Remo Basketball Club could be in danger.

Club Soria Baloncesto only missed three free throws in the entire match (6 of 9, 67% correct), made seven 3-pointers (of 23 attempts) and scored 21 two-point baskets (of the 39 it threw). The Transler will rest on the next day -the eighth- and, as the competition will stop on the occasion of the Constitution Bridge, it will only play two more games before the end of the year: on December 12, at the San Andrés Sports Center, against the La Flecha Basketball Club in Valladolid and a week later in the fiefdom of Plásticos Durán Baloncesto Villares de Salamanca.
