‘Riga’ 3×3 basketball team does not reach the quarterfinals of the ‘Masters’ stage in Prague

The Latvian 3×3 basketball team “Rīga” with Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis, Guntars Strāķis, Agni Čavars and Artūrs Strēlnieki lost on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the World Tour “Masters” stage.

The people of Riga gave up the Lithuanian team “Utena” with the result 18:20 and did not reach the semi-finals.

At the beginning of the game, the Riga team managed to gain a four-point lead (7: 3), but the Lithuanian basketball players, playing the lost points, no longer allowed the Latvian team to take the lead. Utena made an 11: 1 breakthrough with a score of 8:14.

Riga continued to play a six-point deficit and later reached a draw of 18:18, but the outcome of the game was determined by Sagittarius’ note 0.8 seconds before the end of the game. As the norm of remarks was reached, the Lithuanians had the opportunity to throw two free throws. Igns Razutis took both free throws and brought the Lithuanians to the semi-finals.

Lasmanis and Sagittarius scored seven points in the loss, who also won nine rebounds. Three points and eight rebounds for Chavar, but one point and one rebound for Straka.

The Riga team was placed with the second number in the tournament and started it with two victories in the subgroup games. The Lithuanian team is sown with the fifth number.

Two weeks ago, “Riga” lost to Canada in the quarterfinals of the Montreal Masters World Tour, finishing in fifth place. This season the Olympic champions achieved the best result in the World Tour in Debrecen, where they won the second place.

Strāķis played in place of the Olympic champion Naura Mieža in this tournament, but the injured Edgars Krūmiņš in Tokyo is still replaced by Sagittarius.

The next Masters tournament will take place on October 29 and 30 in Abu Dhabi.
