McLaren Australian driver Daniel Richtero has already reportedly won the 14th stage of the F-1 season, Italy’s Grand Prix, on Sunday at the Monza track, while two leading riders Verstapen and Lewis Hamilton were out of the clash.
Verstapen’s trouble began on the 23rd, when he went to the pits, where the always agile “Red Bull” team served him only 11.1 seconds this time. Three laps later, as Hamilton drove out of the pit lane, the Dutchman tried to pass his rival, but after a tire collision, the car he was driving fell on top of a Mercedes car. Both vehicles slipped off the track and stayed aside.
The judges found that Verstapen tried too late to take a position in which he would be able to get a free spot on the track, so he is mostly to blame for the collision.
On the social network Twitter, Verstapen says he would have avoided a horrific accident if he had been left on the track to take a detour. “For that to happen, two people have to get involved, and I feel like I’ve been squeezed out. When we try to get ahead of each other, such things unfortunately happen,” the athlete writes.
Verstapen has been sentenced to three starting places in the next stage or the Russian “Grand Prix”, which will take place in two weeks. The decision can be appealed.
