Washington quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will miss weeks of activity after sustaining a hip injury Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport says Fitzpatrick’s injury will require an injury list. Further testing on Monday will give a better idea of the length of his absence.
The veteran’s injury began in the first quarter when Fitzpatrick took a hard hit from Chargers linebacker Uchenna Nwosu after hitting a pass.
Taylor Heinicke then took control of the attack, and Washington eventually lost 20-16.
Before falling in battle, Fitzpatrick had completed three of his six passes for gains of 13 yards.
It was the 38-year-old’s first start with Washington, who came on a one-season contract.
The Ron Rivera-led team will be back in action Thursday night, hosting the New York Giants.
