Former US President Barack Obama reportedly became a partner in the NBA Africa subsidiary by buying a stake.
In the statement made by the NBA, it was stated that Obama will use the profits from his stake in NBA Africa to finance youth and leadership programs in Africa through his own foundation “Obama Foundation”.
Since 2019, Obama has been closely involved in the work being done to bring NBA Africa to life.
FIBA and NBA Africa had teamed up to form the first professional basketball league in Africa in 2020.
The African Basketball League opened the season in May after being postponed for a year due to the Kovid-19 outbreak.
