The Texan club made the announcement in a press release. The infielder from Longueuil is accompanied by pitcher Joe Smith in the transaction. In return, the Astros received gunners Kendal Graveman and Rafael Montero.

“Thank you, Abraham,” the Astros wrote on their Twitter account.

“Adding a young major league player like Abraham, as well as getting the presence and experience of a veteran like Joe Smith is a decision that we believe makes us a deeper team, everything allowing us to move forward, ”Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said in a statement from his organization.

In 2021, Toro played 35 major league games. There he maintained a .211 batting average and hit 23 balls in a safe place. The 24-year-old also sent the ball out of bounds six times and produced 20 points.

Selected in the fifth round of the 2015 draft, Toro has played a total of 93 games in major league baseball over the past three seasons. He is an average of .193 and has 53 career hits on the Manfred Tour.

In addition, the Astros and the Mariners face each other Tuesday night, in a duel presented at T-Mobile Park.
