Not an open racing outfit, Lorenzo reveals Quartararo’s main problem in Catalunya : Okezone Sports

LUGANO – Former MotoGP racer, Jorge Lorenzo, revealed the main reason why Fabio Quartararo failed to get a good result at the 2021 Catalunya MotoGP. According to him, this minor result was obtained not because of the incident of his racing shirt coming off in the middle of the race, but there were other problems that were more severe for Quartararo.

As is known, Quartararo’s figure was in the spotlight when he was racing at the Catalunya Circuit, Spain, last weekend. This happened because the Monster Energy Yamaha Team racer was seen having problems with his racing suit in the final laps of the race.

In the last three laps, the French racer was seen unzipping his racing suit. Then, Quartararo was seen throwing off his breastplate.

El Diablo -Quartararo’s nickname- finally continued the race with his racing clothes open at the chest. Because his actions were seen as dangerous, Quartararo was immediately punished.

He received a three-second penalty so that his position immediately dropped in the list of overall results for the 2021 Catalunya MotoGP. Quartararo finally had to settle for only finishing sixth.

In fact, Quartararo himself is predicted to win the race at the 2021 Catalunya MotoGP. Because he managed to win the pole position before the race.

Regarding this failure, Lorenzo assessed that Quartararo had to accept it not because of the problem of the racing clothes being exposed in the middle of the race. Although this broke Quartararo’s focus, the driver was considered to have another more important problem affecting the race, namely the tires.

“Quartararo also had problems with the front tyre. He also made a mistake in the first corner at the beginning when he tried to attack Miller too early,” Lorenzo said, as quoted by Speedweek, Sunday (13/6/2021).

“This action caused him to lose several positions. Then, there was the problem with his racing suit. But, the real problem is the tires,” said the five-time world champion.
