The work to improve access to the Port of Santander through the western control of Raos has ended with the reception of the works by the Port Authority, which have been carried out by the company Servicios y Obras del Norte.

The president of the APS, César Díaz, explained that with this expansion “port users will have better infrastructure to carry out their operations with greater agility and security in access.”

Thus, according to Díaz, this work, which has involved an investment of €411,400, has been necessary to “facilitate the traffic of special transports, both inbound and outbound, fundamentally those destined for the transfer of materials for wind farms.” .

To this end, two new lanes to the west have been created, the internal and external roundabouts of the checkpoint have been conditioned, the signage and enclosure have been renewed, and the current lighting has been modified.

The new design also aims to “improve the operation of passing through the control by giving specific uses to the new lanes,” said the president of the APS. In this way, lane four will be used for the exit of vehicles from the ferry and lane five for merchandise from the container terminal.
