This past Sunday, May 30, the Benjamin Navarrese Judo Championship was held, where the 9 and 10-year-old Navarrese judokas met at the Mendillorri Sports Center.
17 judokas from Ribera Navarra traveled there and got 8 medals.
Gold went to Leire Oruezábal from Tudela in the -34 kilograms category, who won all her matches for Ippon (maximum score). The final faced him against his clubmate, Nara López, who got the silver after winning several matches. Great final for Ribera Navarra in a complicated women’s category.
Another gold medal for the club came from the hand of the Fontellero Rubén Machado in the category of +47 kilos.
The other 4 silver medals were won by Iván Rubio de Fontellas in -26 kg, Alai Hernández de Fustiñana in -38 kg, Laura Romo de Tudela in -26 kg and Naroa Villaverde de Fustiñana in +47 kg.
The last medal was hung by Carolina Pérez from Tudela, at -30 kilos, who achieved a creditable third place.
Highlight the performance of Álvaro Cepeda, Luis García, Paula Peláez, Lucía Aguirre, Alex Ramírez, Héctor Lapeña, Héctor Muro, Gaël Val, and Aitor Escribano, who, although they did not obtain metal, showed skill on the tatami, winning several matches each of them .
