Motorsport world in mourning after the death of Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier | Moto GP

Jason Dupasquier crashed into a fast corner at the end of qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix (in the Moto3 class) on Saturday. The 19-year-old Swiss was then also hit by another driver who was unable to avoid him.

Emergency services immediately came to Dupasquier’s aid. After 30 minutes of first aid, he was transferred by helicopter to the Carregi hospital in Florence.

“Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the hospital has announced that Dupasquier has sadly passed away from his injuries,” MotoGP said in a statement this afternoon.

“On behalf of the entire MotoGP family, we send our love to his team, family and loved ones. You will be sorely missed, Jason. Ride in peace.”

Jason Dupasquier is the son of motocross racer Philippe Dupasquier. He made his motorsport debut last year for Prüstel GP, which rides KTMs.
