Ming Pao reported that Wong was spotted with a new girlfriend while competing in Nansha, with Tam in attendance and the two acting affectionately. Days later, Wong’s coach, James Allemby, posted photos from a tournament in Seoul showing Wong and Tam crossing a street side by side; the pair openly liked each other’s posts, leaving little doubt about their relationship.
Tam, also known by her English name Mandy Tam, is a Hong Kong model, actress and singer who has been dubbed the “basketball goddess” in local media.

In his video statement, Wong said he and Chan Hong-tai had actually split in September — not recently — and that she initiated the breakup with no third party involved.
“Last time I said I would focus on my tennis too. As an athlete, I am always traveling. I really need someone by my side to support me. I hope everyone can respect that,” Wong said.
