West Ham United Sacks Manager Nuno Espirito Santo

“Nach einer gründlichen Analyse des Saisonstarts in der EFL Championship ist der Vorstand zu der Überzeugung gelangt, dass zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt ein Wechsel notwendig ist, um sicherzustellen, dass die Ziele und Erwartungen des Vereins weiterhin erreicht werden,” West Ham United announced in a statement. West Ham United has parted ways with manager Nuno Espirito Santo, the club announced on Tuesday.

Championship Struggles Prompt Dismissal

The Portuguese manager took charge at West Ham in September 2025, and the club suffered relegation into the EFL Championship under his watch. With an immediate return to the top flight now under threat, the club’s board opted to make a managerial change. The London club currently sits eighth in the EFL Championship table, having collected 22 points from their opening 13 matches of the campaign.

Record at the London Stadium

During his tenure with the Hammers, Espirito Santo managed the team across 53 matches. He recorded an average of 1.38 points per match during his time standing on the touchline. The club confirmed that his entire coaching staff is also leaving the organization.

Interim Management Takes Over

Club officials stated that the search for a successor is already underway. In the meantime, Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Penderville will take temporary charge of team preparations. The interim coaching trio will lead the squad for the upcoming fixture against Cardiff City.

Club Statement on Next Steps

“Der Verein wird sich bis zur offiziellen Bestätigung der Ernennung des neuen Cheftrainers nicht weiter dazu äußern,” the Hammers stated regarding the ongoing search for a successor. Noble made 550 appearances for West Ham between 2005 and 2022 and was the team’s long-time captain.
