TSV Haunstetten beats TSV Diedorf 8-0 in Badminton Derby

TSV Haunstetten defeated TSV Diedorf 8:0 in the first Augsburg derby of the Badminton Regionalliga, maintaining pressure on the top of the league standings.

From Joint Venture to Fierce Rivals on the Court

The fixture carried unique local significance as the two clubs operated as a combined sports cooperative just two years prior. Playing before a vocal crowd of around 50 spectators at the home venue of the basement-dwelling hosts, the favored visitors from Haunstetten established early control and never relinquished it.

Doubles Sweep Establishes Early Command

The visiting side seized the initiative immediately when the newly formed top men’s doubles pair of Hamm and Degenkolb dispatched Steimer and Schilling in straight sets. Additional resistance emerged in the remaining doubles pairings. The duos of R. Hamm and Köhler against Tatar and Nowak, alongside Czerny and Bernhard against Aust and Geißenberger, stretched to three sets before Haunstetten secured both matches to build a 3:0 advantage.

Siblings M. Hamm and N. Hamm then paired up in the mixed doubles to defeat veterans Aust and Schilling, capturing the fourth point and with it a preliminary decision.

Singles Dominance Seals the Eight-Point Shutout

Haunstetten underlined their superior league position during the four singles matches. Hamm swept past Nowak in the women’s singles. Vonmetz faced a sterner test in the second men’s singles against Steimer, dropping the opening set in extra points before surging back to take the next two convincingly.

Bernhard wrapped up the afternoon in the third men’s singles against Geißenberger, navigating a tense second set to win 25:23 and complete the 8:0 scoreline.

Upcoming Fixtures at Sporthalle Haunstetten

Following the victory, TSV Haunstetten prepares to host TSV Niederwürschnitz and OSC München at the Sporthalle Haunstetten on November 21 and November 22 as the squad seeks to narrow the gap on the division leader.
