Badminton Club Lieshout Youth Retains Third Place After Win And Defeat

Badminton Club Lieshout secured a dominant 0-6 away victory against BC Goirle-J2 and suffered a narrow 2-4 home defeat to group leader BC Gilze-J4, results that keep the youth team firmly in third place in their national league standings. The squad sits comfortably as the best of the rest behind the leading teams from Gilze and Best.

Third Place Standing in Category D

Organized by Badminton Nederland, the national youth competition features a single-stage format this season rather than the two-phase setup used previously. Badminton Club Lieshout fields one team in the 25th division of Category D. While the squad cannot match the pace set by group leaders Gilze and Best at the top of the table, their recent results ensure they retain a solid grip on third position in the division.

Dominant Away Victory in Goirle

The stark difference in skill levels was immediately evident during the fixture in Goirle against the division’s bottom-placed team. Hilke Klomp overwhelmed Michelle Vermeer in straight sets, conceding just three points in each game for a 3-21, 3-21 victory that left her opponent scrambling across the court. Asja Timmers delivered a similarly lopsided result against her opponent, winning 6-21 and 5-21 to wrap up a comprehensive team sweep.

Hard-Fought Battle Against League Leader Gilze

The home fixture against division leader BC Gilze-J4 presented a significantly tougher challenge for the Lieshout players, who had previously suffered a 6-0 defeat in their earlier meeting away from home. Demonstrating clear tactical improvement, the Lieshout team captured two of the six matches contested. Asja Timmers outlasted Onyx Vermeulen in a lengthy three-set singles match, recovering from a first-set deficit to win 13-21, 21-16, 21-13. In the doubles event, Hilke Klomp and Teun Scheepers dropped the opening set 15-21 before staging a strong comeback to take the next two sets 21-18 and 21-19.
