Tours Judokas Capture Ten Medals at Tournaments

Young judokas from Tours captured ten medals across two competitions in Bourges and Seine-Saint-Denis as the Toussaint school holidays drew to a close, highlighted by Noé Roussineau’s gold medal in the -34kg category.

Gold in Bourges and a Ten-Medal Haul

Competition opened on Saturday, October 31, at the Bourges national Label A tournament. The event drew a high standard of entries, according to local reporting, and saw Tours athletes secure a broad collection of podium finishes across multiple weight classes.

Noé Roussineau led the delegation by claiming gold in the -34kg division. Allesio Contu added a silver medal in the -66kg category. Six bronze medals rounded out the club’s tally in Bourges: Olive Mallet in -36kg, Lyla Filleau in -44kg, Lily Dyes in -57kg, Clara Fourreau in -63kg, Israe Belbahri in -70kg, and Ylan Feyfant in -73kg.

Cadet Podiums in Seine-Saint-Denis

Action shifted the following day to Seine-Saint-Denis for a cadets Label Excellence tournament. Sohaib El Moumeny claimed third place in the -55kg division, and Evan Otto matched the result with a bronze medal in the -81kg category.

Alaric Gérard, federal technical advisor and technical director for UJTM 37—the structure supporting both cadet medalists—noted that the weekend served a specific developmental purpose for the younger competitors.

“The minimes mostly belong to the departmental judo class that I oversee,” Gérard said. “This age category is a turning point, with two national events at the end of the season. For these young people to confront and meet judokas they don’t know, profiles they aren’t used to having in training, is necessary.”

Gérard added that two cadets who previously performed well at the Clermont-Ferrand tournament were given a rest weekend. Alongside the two podium finishes in Seine-Saint-Denis, Naomie Selingant Boulard secured a fifth-place finish in the -52kg category.

“These two podiums and the fifth place of Naomie Selingant Boulard are satisfactory because they allow these three fighters to get back into a positive dynamic,” Gérard said. “Especially after a high-level tournament with a lot of fighters from the Île-de-France region.”

Next Stop at the Nantes Excellence Tournament

The Touraine judo squad turns its focus toward the upcoming cadets Label Excellence tournament in Nantes, scheduled for three weeks’ time.
