Jaylen Brown added 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Sixers. He told BeBasket that his team has not reached its ceiling yet. Vous n’avez pas encore vu notre meilleur niveau, Brown said. Mais nous avons réussi à remporter quelques matchs.

Starting Lineups Carry the Load

All five Philadelphia starters scored at least 15 points against Chicago. Sport News Africa noted that the starting five accounted for 102 of the team’s 126 total points. Philadelphie built its victory through successive surges, opening with a 7-0 run from 3-3 to 10-3, and another 7-0 run from 15-13 to 22-13. The local lead was just one point at 12-11 midway through the first period, before stretching to 30-23 at the end of the quarter.

Chicago fought back to win the second quarter 36-34, taking a 43-41 lead and reaching its biggest advantage of the night at 45-41. After four lead changes in the game, Philadelphia regained control before halftime with a 9-0 run from 52-53 to 62-52, eventually expanding its margin up to 22 points in the final minutes.

Maxey distributed 11 assists while directing the offense. James contributed 9 assists, while Brown and Edgecombe each added 5 assists. In total, Philadelphia shot 48 for 91 from the field, handed out 36 assists—ten more than Chicago—and grabbed 47 rebounds to the Bulls’ 42. Chicago shot 38 for 89 overall, converting 10 of 38 attempts from three-point range, while Philadelphia made 11 of 31 from beyond the arc.

Chicago tried to stay competitive through balanced scoring, with four players reaching 13 points or more. Josh Giddey contributed 13 points, 10 assists, 5 field goals on 15 attempts, and 3 turnovers for the hosts, according to Sport News Africa. Jalen Smith also recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds, while Norman Powell added 18 points—including 7 of 11 free throws—though he finished with a -24 differential.

Defensive Consistency Remains the Goal

Despite the comfortable margin, Brown emphasized that Philadelphia must tighten its defensive habits. L’attaque sera ce qu’elle sera, mais notre défense doit être irréprochable, Brown insisted, adding: I try to be vocal, but not annoying just to make sure we maintain those consistent habits.

RMC Sport noted that the Bulls had struggled with defensive breakdowns early in the season, conceding an average of 129 points per game during their difficult stretch. In their earlier meeting on Nov. 2, Chicago allowed 29 fast-break points to the Sixers.

Philadelphia currently holds the second-best defensive rating in the NBA, surrendering 105.2 points per 100 possessions (or 105.1 points per game according to alternative tracking cited in sources), while also ranking as the top team in forcing turnovers at 12.8%, according to BeBasket.
