Three Wins and One Step From the Title
Samsung Lions sit just one victory away from hoisting the Korean Series trophy after defeating the KT Wiz 10–5 at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on November 7, 2026.
Samsung Lions Build a Three-Game Lead
The Lions entered the autumn postseason as the regular-season runners-up with an 83-win, 58-loss, and 3-tie record. To reach the Korean Series, Samsung fought through a tense five-game playoff series against the third-place Kia Tigers, winning three games to two. After dropping the opening match of the championship round 8–7, the Lions rebounded with victories of 3–2 and 5–1 before commanding the fourth game with a five-run margin.
Outfielder Park Seung-kyu powered the Lions’ offense in Game 4 from the number-two batting spot, collecting three hits in four at-bats with three RBIs and a run scored. In the third inning with two runners aboard and two outs, Park drove a 146 km/h fastball from KT right-hander Bae Je-seong past the shortstop for an RBI single that extended Samsung’s lead to 6–1. After KT narrowed the gap, Park delivered again in the fifth inning against left-hander Oh Won-seok, launching a two-run double off a 133 km/h changeup to deepen the Lions’ advantage.
Park Seung-kyu Puts Championship Glory First
Park capped his night in the seventh inning with a single off relief pitcher Kouki Sugimoto, setting up Koo Ja-wook for an RBI double that stretched the score to 9–4.
“More than the series MVP, the desire to win the championship is greater,” Park said after the game. “I hope we win the championship and older brother Ja-wook wins the series MVP.”
“Park Seung-kyu was very active in the batting lineup and connected well with the cleanup hitters,” Park Jin-man said.
KT Wiz Face Elimination in Daegu
For coach Lee Kang-chul and the KT Wiz, Game 4 leaves the club facing elimination heading into the fifth contest of the series.
Park Seung-kyu, drafted by Samsung in the ninth round of the 2019 draft, finished the 2026 regular season with career-best numbers, appearing in 106 games with a .265 batting average, 13 home runs, and 47 RBIs. Having missed last year’s postseason due to a right-hand injury, the right-handed hitter has seized his opportunity on the championship stage.
“Now, being able to play in a single game itself is very happy, and I am grateful to be standing here,” Park said. “Rather than wanting to do well, the feeling of gratitude is greater.”
