Romane Cloteaux-Foucault signs with Club Alençonnais Badminton

Romane Cloteaux-Foucault, the French No. 3 and world No. 128 in women’s badminton, has signed with Club Alençonnais Badminton for the current season, joining the Orne-based team ahead of their match against Rostrenen B on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at Halle Alice-Milliat.

The arrival of the 25-year-old athlete represents a significant addition for a club targeting promotion to Nationale 1. Trained at the Dinard regional hope center and the Bordeaux national center, Cloteaux-Foucault brings previous experience playing for elite Top 12 clubs.

Her transfer to Alençon was influenced by a recent federation reform in the Top 12 league that reduced the overall number of matches. “I wanted to play near home under the eight-match system, and Alençon also has the objective of moving up to Nationale 1. That appealed to me a lot,” Cloteaux-Foucault said.

Chasing the 2028 Olympic Games

A native of Brittany who began playing at age eight, Cloteaux-Foucault won the French junior championship in 2019 and finished as the runner-up to Rosy Pancasari at the senior French championships weeks prior to her club switch. She maintains a rigorous training regimen based in Rennes with coach Régis Bridel.

“I didn’t hesitate to cross France to find the sports environment that suits me perfectly today, between coach, sports trainer, nutritionist,” she stated. Her medium-term athletic goals include breaking into the top 100 of the global rankings and securing qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Integration into the Alençon Squad

At Alençon, Cloteaux-Foucault joins a familiar face in Diane Lemesle, with whom she previously trained in Rennes. Team captain Yann Lemesle noted the immediate impact of her presence following a narrow 3-5 defeat against Flume Ille Badminton, calling her a real asset on the court.

Teammate Céline Heude-Gasnier pointed out Cloteaux-Foucault’s versatility across different match categories and her ability to handle high-level pressure. The club reports that the new recruit has integrated smoothly, offering tactical advice and participating in team activities ahead of the Saturday afternoon fixture against Rostrenen B.
