Peter Perchtold names U21 squad with Austria Wien talent Nnodim

Perchtold surprises with 17 newcomers in final U21 squad

Austria U21 head coach Peter Perchtold named a 30-man squad featuring 17 debutants for the final international training camp of the year, LAOLA1 reported. The squad includes Austria Wien talent Daniel Nnodim, who chose the ÖFB setup after holding eligibility to represent Germany.

Training camp scheduled without competitive fixtures

The upcoming international window features no competitive matches for the Austrian youth selection. Instead, Perchtold and his staff will run a dedicated training camp to evaluate the expanded player pool.

Domestic clubs supply most squad newcomers

Eleven of the 17 newcomers currently play in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga or the ADMIRAL 2. Liga. Perchtold also called up several players based abroad, including three legionnaires from clubs in Germany, two from Serbia, and one from Portugal.

Youngest goalkeeper joins roster as stars miss out

FC Liefering goalkeeper Teo Hupfauf enters the roster as the youngest player at 16 years old, having already logged two appearances in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga this season. Meanwhile, high-profile names such as Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Vasilije Markovic miss out on the U21 squad to assist Austria’s U19 team through the final three matches of European Championship qualification.
