Nguyen Tat Duy Loi advances to Yonex BTY junior final

Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tat Duy Loi earned a place in the boys’ singles final at the YONEX BTY Junior International Series 2026 in Thailand after overcoming Malaysia’s Jin Khoo in a hard-fought semifinal match.

Overcoming a deficit against Jin Khoo

The semifinal clash tested the resilience of the top-seeded Vietnamese competitor. Jin Khoo relied on an agile, technical style to challenge the draw, having previously eliminated multiple tough opponents to reach the final four. In the opening set, both players traded points in close exchanges before Duy Loi capitalized at the crucial juncture to secure a 21-19 win.

The momentum shifted in the second set as Jin Khoo rattled off a string of consecutive points to build a commanding 17-11 lead. Rather than conceding, Duy Loi intensified his attack. Duy Loi steadily clawed back the deficit before closing out the set with another 21-19 scoreline, completing a straight-sets victory.

Championship match against Lekyim or Lai

With the semifinal win secured, Duy Loi advances to contest the boys’ singles title. The final is scheduled for tomorrow in Thailand, where the Vietnamese junior standout will face the winner of the second semifinal between Thailand’s Thanakrit Lekyim and Malaysia’s Man Tat Lai.

Building an international junior resume

Born in 2008 in Hué and currently representing the Lam Dong province, Duy Loi holds the number one seeding and sits 28th in the junior world rankings. The victory in Thailand builds on a strong run of international form this season. In August 2026, he claimed the boys’ singles title at the Philippine Junior International Badminton tournament.

Following the conclusion of the tournament in Thailand, Duy Loi is scheduled to travel to Ho Chi Minh City to compete in the 2026 National Sports Games as a member of the Lam Dong badminton team.
