Why 180 WNBA players changes the Arcade edition
The WNBA content arrives through two dedicated modes: WNBA Quick Match, for 5-on-5 games with a favorite team, and WNBA Blacktop, for 1-on-1, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 street games, SpiritGamer reported. 2K described the integration as “long awaited,” according to iPhoneSoft.
The addition closes a gap that had grown conspicuous. Console and PC builds of NBA 2K have included the WNBA for multiple seasons, while Apple-device players had no access to women’s teams at all. The 15 franchises and 180 active players now span the full league, from the established powers to the 2026 expansion clubs in Toronto and Portland.
MyCareer shrinks to 12 games that matter
The biggest solo-mode change is a compressed career. A created player in MyPlayer now begins the rookie season with an overall rating of 80 — high enough to matter on the floor immediately — and the season condenses into 12 decisive games with one objective: qualify the team for the NBA playoffs, SpiritGamer reported.
That 80-to-playoffs structure replaces the longer grind of prior editions. The hub around the mode, The Neighborhood, expands with four new locations: a Central Terminal that gathers events, quests and seasonal content; a gym that grants one-week boosts to speed, acceleration, vertical leap, strength or stamina; and a barbershop and tattoo studio for customizing the player, according to iPhoneSoft.
The rest of the lineup carries over: The Association, where the user acts as general manager and coach handling trades, agents, scouting and finances; NBA Eras, which lets players take over dynasties from the 1990s Chicago Bulls to the current Golden State Warriors; and online multiplayer through Game Center, SpiritGamer reported.
Apple Arcade pricing versus the €69.99 full game
The Arcade edition is not sold separately. In France, Apple Arcade costs €6.99 per month or €49.99 per year, and one subscription is shareable with five family members. It is also bundled into Apple One from €19.95 per month, and Apple offers three months of Arcade with the purchase of an eligible device, SpiritGamer reported.
Set that against the standard release: NBA 2K27 sells for €69.99 on Steam outside of promotions, where the virtual currency known as VC can be used to raise a player’s rating. In the Arcade edition there is nothing to buy — no ads, no in-app purchases, and no way to purchase an upgrade with VC. A rookie starts at 80, plays 12 games, and no payment window opens in between, SpiritGamer reported.
Download size, system requirements and controllers
The App Store listing puts the download at 2.9 GB and requires iOS 17 on iPhone, iPadOS 17 on iPad, macOS 13 on Mac and tvOS 18 on Apple TV, SpiritGamer reported. Xbox controllers, DualShock 4, DualSense and MFi-certified gamepads are supported, and Game Center handles matches between friends.
One detail stands out for families: the game carries a 4+ rating on the App Store, while NBA 2K27 holds a PEGI 16 rating on its other platforms, SpiritGamer reported. The game is offered in French among 13 supported languages, though the language of the in-game commentary was not specified, SpiritGamer noted.
How this edition differs from NBA 2K26 Arcade
Last year’s edition, released Oct. 16, 2025, centered on a reworked MyPlayer creator with templates inspired by stars, drills and cosmetic rewards, added NBA Eras to the Association mode, and expanded The Neighborhood with new streetball playgrounds and quests, iPhoneSoft reported.
