Marcos Vinagre wins Spanish Superbikes Pre Talent championship

Spanish rider Marcos Vinagre secured his second Pre Talent title in the Campeonato de España de Superbikes on Sunday, clinching the championship by a 12-point margin after a decisive battle in the final corners of the season-ending race.

Last-Lap Championship Triumph at the Season Finale

Vinagre entered the weekend holding an advantage after reclaiming the overall standings lead during Saturday’s race. Despite starting second behind his primary title rival, Javier Vigueras, the rider from Vitoria navigated a large leading pack where a dozen competitors traded positions throughout the afternoon. Entering the closing laps needing to overcome a shifting provisional classification, Vinagre executed a decisive pass on the final curve to secure both the race victory and the championship crown. Vinagre finished the season with 234 points, edging out Vigueras, who finished second in the standings with 225 points after taking fourth place in the final race.

Podium Results and Title Standings

The high-pressure finale saw the title contenders battle at the front of a tightly bunched field. José Luis Cagigas crossed the line in second place during Sunday’s race, while Álvaro Chichurri rounded out the podium in third. Vigueras managed 13 points for his fourth-place finish, which fell short of stopping Vinagre’s 25-point race-winning haul. The intense points swing left Vinagre holding a 12-point cushion when the checkered flag dropped.

Off-Track Momentum and Next-Category Promotion

The championship success follows an announcement from the Igax Team confirming Vinagre’s contract renewal. The team announced on Friday that the young rider will make the jump to the ESBK Talent category for the upcoming season, carrying consecutive titles into the higher division. «Estoy supercontento. Muchas gracias a todo el mundo», Vinagre said after the race while holding his gold champion’s helmet.
