No. 9 LSU beat Texas Southern 131-22 on Thursday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, a 109-point margin that stands as the largest win in Division I history against a Division I opponent, according to ESPN Research. It surpassed Baylor’s 140-32 rout of Winthrop on Dec. 15, 2016 — a Baylor team led by current LSU head coach Kim Mulkey.
If Kim Mulkey wanted to send a message early in the 2026-27 season, it was delivered Thursday night against a Texas Southern team picked to finish 10th in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Mulkey is in her sixth season at LSU and has won four national titles as a head coach, the most recent in 2023.
