Running Man Episode Brings Olympic and Asian Games Stars to SBS
South Korean broadcaster SBS featured Olympic judo medalist Kim Min-jong and professional basketball player Lee Hyun-jung as special guests on the Sunday variety program Running Man, broadcast on Dec. 1, 2024, in an installment titled the “Elizabeth to the Medal” special, mk.co.kr reported.
Quiz Basketball and the Wall Street Mix-Up
The episode kicked off with a quiz basketball segment where only players who successfully scored a basket were permitted to answer trivia questions for game hints. During the match, actress Song Ji-hyo correctly scored a basket for her team but stumbled on a question regarding financial districts, mistakenly answering “Youth Street” instead of “Wall Street,” prompting laughter from the cast. Yoo Jae-seok later secured a point for his side by correctly identifying the historical Seoul alleyway Pimmakkol, giving his team a strategic advantage in the subsequent puzzle hunt.
Kim Min-jong Shows Raw Strength Against Kim Jong-kook
During a physical mission requiring contestants to push through elastic bands to retrieve various items ranging from lightweight avocados to 20-kilogram sandbags, judo silver medalist Kim Min-jong demonstrated his physical dominance. When Kim Min-jong surged forward pulling a pair of 20-kilogram sandbags, veteran cast members Kim Jong-kook and Lee Hyun-jung were dragged across the floor with ease. Yoo Jae-seok quipped that it was a rare sight to see Kim Jong-kook get physically overpowered. When Kim Jong-kook attempted his own run against Kim Min-jong’s resistance, he failed to move forward, leading Yoo Jae-seok to tease, I really found out this time. You’re just an ordinary citizen.
Kim Jong-kook laughed and conceded, I’m an ordinary neighborhood uncle.
Weigh-In Puzzle and Final Broadcast Schedule
The final phase of the episode challenged the cast and guests with a hidden weight puzzle inside a building. After an initial failed attempt registering 242 kilograms on a scale, Yoo Jae-seok correctly deduced that the target value sat between the 310-centimeter and 320-centimeter shoe sizes of Kim Min-jong and Lee Hyun-jung. Factoring in the gathered props, the group hit the target weight of approximately 310 kilograms to secure gold medals. Following the recording, basketball player Lee Hyun-jung received autographs from the cast, fulfilling a lifelong ambition as a self-described “Running Man kid.” Running Man airs every Sunday at 6:15 p.m. local time on SBS.
