Mayte Martínez, the councillor for Participation and Sports, presented the event alongside José María Rioja, president of the Federación de Tiro con Arco de Castilla y León and vice president of the national body, and Ana Alonso, president of the Arco Club. Martínez noted that the tournament gathers 279 athletes representing 79 teams across 74 targets at the Pepe Rojo venue. Circuit Standings and World Archery Homologation Context
The Spanish Grand Prix events hold official international homologation from World Archery, allowing competitors of all nationalities to participate. The circuit opened its season under the Liga Nacional FETA de clubes-Trofeo Loterías banner with stops in Cáceres on April 13 and 14, followed by a second leg in Madrid on May 11 and 12. Valladolid hosts the third and final leg, acting as a crucial qualifier for both individual rankings and the national club finals scheduled for June 29 and 30 in Valencia. Every competing club must field at least three archers across all three grand prix stops to secure eligibility for the final phase.
Local Representation and National Elites Compete on Dual Fields
Ana Alonso pointed out that the setup allows nearly 300 athletes to shoot simultaneously across two fields. Around 30 local archers from Arco Club Valladolid, Club Arco Pucela, and Arcolid make up the regional contingent. The entry list features prominent names in Spanish archery, including Miguel Albariño, a 2016 Rio Olympian and 2022 European champion, alongside junior world champion Francho Rufas. In the compound divisions, international competitors Andrea Muñoz and Ramón López join local standout and 3D indoor national champion Ana Alonso, as well as junior clubmate Héctor González, who earned a selection for the European Championships in Romania.
Category Breakdown Across Recurve and Compound Disciplines
Participation numbers span multiple divisions, with recurve men drawing the largest individual field at 120 competitors. The recurve women’s category features roughly 50 archers, while the compound divisions list 85 male and 35 female competitors. Team competitions feature 22 men’s recurve squads, eight women’s recurve teams, and 20 mixed recurve entries. Compound team entries include 12 men’s squads, five women’s squads, and 13 mixed teams.
