Ja Morant Unveils the Ja 3 Featuring Hybrid ZoomX Foam and Customization Options

Nike has launched the Ja 3 By You customizable basketball shoe, featuring full-length Hybrid ZoomX foam, a newly engineered outsole traction pattern, and extensive options for personalized colorways and graphics.

Design Options and Customization Features on Nike

The Ja 3 By You platform allows users to mix and match colors and graphics across the left and right shoes independently. According to Nike, customization choices include a sparkling Swoosh logo, glow-in-the-dark outsole options, and a curated color palette selected directly by Morant. The aesthetic direction reflects Morant’s explicit instructions to Nike designers. “I told them, ‘Don’t hold back. Go all out,'” Morant said of the process. This collaboration produced a vertical Swoosh logo paired with a rough scratch mark design.

Hybrid ZoomX Foam and Traction Performance

Performance upgrades center on a full-length Hybrid ZoomX foam setup designed to deliver Nike’s highest energy return for the athlete. “Already rolling, and it adds even more momentum,” Morant said regarding the cushioning system. In addition to the foam, the shoe features a pinpoints-adjusted outsole traction pattern covered in small Ja logos. Morant noted that the grip is engineered to create a competitive advantage, stating, “With this grip, I can shake the defender anytime.” A lightweight, durable upper provides structural stability for quick directional changes on the court.

Evolution From the Ja 2 to the Ja 3

“The Ja 2 was about control, locking you in,” Morant said. “The Ja 3 is about freedom. More bounce, more energy, more movement.” The combination of full-length Hybrid ZoomX foam and specialized traction aims to support Morant’s playing style wearing jersey number 12, marking a distinct technical shift in his signature footwear line.
