The Duomo di Cefalù will open its doors Saturday evening, November 7, for a roundtable devoted to the cathedral’s liturgical furnishings — documents, stylistic analysis and new hypotheses — as part of the cultural series “La Cattedrale di Cefalù nel tempo. Itinerari di conoscenza,” Castelbuono Live reported.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the cathedral in Cefalù, in the province of Palermo, and is organized by the Cultural Heritage Office of the Diocese of Cefalù together with the Cefalù branch of the Archeoclub d’Italia. Stefania Randazzo, president of the Archeoclub d’Italia’s Cefalù branch, will moderate the discussion.
Scholars and Diocesan Officials on the Panel
Five speakers will take part. Valerio Di Vico, head of the Diocesan Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage Office, will join art historians Giuseppe Fazio and Adriano Napoli, both PhD holders in art history. Don Pietro Piraino, director of the Cefalù Diocesan Historical Archive, and Salvatore Varzi of the Varzi & Brunetti Photographic Archive and Fototeca will also speak, bringing archival and photographic material to the discussion.
Conclusions will be delivered by Bishop Giuseppe Marciante of Cefalù.
A Study Series Rooted in the Roger II Conference
The initiative to promote a cycle of meetings on the history and artistic heritage of the Norman basilica grew out of the experience of the conference on the “Universal Heritage of Roger II,” which reaches its eighth edition in February 2027. The series treats the cathedral not only as a monument of extraordinary beauty but as a heritage to be studied and preserved, Castelbuono Live reported.
