Activity during NFL trade season is booming more than at any time in league history. That change in philosophy is driving a surge in NFL trade deadline activity.
The NFL trade deadline on November 10 at 4 p.m. ET is approaching after a season of rapid front-office movement. From 2010 through 2016, deadline day typically saw just one player trade, with fewer than three deals during deadline week, according to ESPN. By contrast, 2025 brought eight deadline-day trades and 14 deals during deadline week. ESPN Research indicates that between 2017 and 2025, squads swapped players who had earned first- or second-team All-Pro honors an average of 3.6 times per season.
Chicago Bears Acquire Jeffery Simmons in Blockbuster Trade
The Chicago Bears traded a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick, and a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick, The Big Lead reported. The deal makes Simmons the first defensive tackle in the common draft era to be traded for multiple first-round picks. Just four days after he was acquired in the blockbuster trade, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons has already demonstrated his value to his new team.
Maxx Crosby wants to be a Raider, he has no desire to leave, and he is definitely not forcing his way out. But GM John Spytek is sure to get calls over the next 10 days, leaving open the possibility of another blockbuster. More in The Sweep: https://t.co/2eiMVV78yz pic.twitter.com/NQSsmJYzUE
Simmons wasted no time making an impact in Chicago. In a Monday night win over the Seattle Seahawks, he recorded six tackles, a sack, two tackles for loss, and a pass defensed.
The trade signals a clear change for Tennessee. Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi noted that accumulating draft capital gives the franchise flexibility for the future. Simmons, 29, is in Year 9 of his career.

Houston Texans Trade for Marvin Harrison Jr.
Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort acknowledged the difficulty of the move in a team release. Houston takes on a player due $4 million this year and $5.62 million in 2027, with a fifth-year option decision looming this offseason. Following a 26-3 victory against the Titans, Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans wrapped up his media session with the declaration, We traded for Marvin Harrison.
Cowboys Target Porter to Patch Injured Secondary
The transaction marks the third trade between Dallas and Pittsburgh in roughly two years, following previous deals for George Pickens and Broderick Jones. The Cowboys targeted Porter’s press-man coverage skills to patch a secondary that dealt with injuries to Cobie Durant and Shavon Revel Jr. Sitting at 0-7, the Los Angeles Chargers face a tight window to determine whether they should initiate a fire sale. With questions of whether the team might move 35-year-old Khalil Mack to a contender, Jim Harbaugh made clear his feelings about the edge rusher.

I want Khalil Mack here. Khalil Mack wants to be here. He’s one of the pillars of our team.
Mack, who is playing on an expiring contract, had a season-low 35 snaps in Sunday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Ever since the establishment of the salary cap in 1994, it has expanded from $34.6 million up to $301.2 million, providing front-office executives with vastly different economic boundaries when completing high-value acquisitions.
