A coalition of local associations in Baron-sur-Odon, Calvados, will host a charity event on Sunday, November 8, 2026, to raise funds for lung cancer research. Organized by the town’s animation committee, the “Novembre Perle” day aims to direct all proceeds to the François Baclesse Center, according to Mayor Georges Laignel.
Fundraising for the François Baclesse Center
The event changes how the community’s annual solidarity efforts are prioritized. In 2025, the local collective held a similar fundraiser dedicated to prostate and testicular cancer research. This year, organizers opted to highlight lung cancer awareness through a program designed to be accessible to all residents and visitors.
Event Schedule at the Local School
The day is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Baron-sur-Odon school. Participants are encouraged to register in advance for the various athletic activities planned throughout the morning and afternoon.
The program begins at 8:30 a.m. with a warm-up session led by the Gym Fontaine-Verson association. At 9:00 a.m., the Les Godillots Baronnais and Les Cyclos de l’Odon associations will launch several outdoor excursions, including a 60-kilometer cycling loop and a 9-kilometer hike. A 4-kilometer walk and a 12-kilometer family-friendly bike ride, open to children aged 8 and older, are set for 10:00 a.m.
Additional cycling options include a 25-kilometer route starting at 10:30 a.m. with a 250-meter elevation gain, followed by a 12-kilometer circuit at 11:00 a.m. Between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., the local band SNOP will perform a concert featuring rock music from the 1970s through the 1990s.
Afternoon Activities for Children
The afternoon session focuses on youth engagement, featuring table tennis, health-oriented obstacle courses, bubble-making, and painting workshops. The Archers de l’Odon association will also provide an introduction to archery for attendees.
Entry to the event is set at 5 euros, with all funds donated to the François Baclesse Center. For further information or to complete registration, residents may call 02 31 26 83 91.
