An Se-young to Compete in Women’s Badminton League in Denmark

South Korean badminton star An Se-young will compete in the 2026 Women’s Badminton League in Solrød Strand, Denmark, after official tournament organizers confirmed her upcoming December appearance. The announcement generated immediate enthusiasm among Danish fans and international supporters following a season for the Olympic and world champion.

Tournament Debut at the Solrød Strand Idrætscenter

The Women’s Badminton Collective announced on social media that An Se-young will participate in the international invitational tournament scheduled for Dec. 19–20. The competition takes place at the Solrød Strand Idrætscenter in Denmark, marking the second edition of the team-based event.

Unlike standard Badminton World Federation World Tour stops, the league features a distinct team format combining women’s singles, women’s doubles, and 3v3 matches across a two-day schedule. Four teams compete in the tournament, opening with semifinals on the first day before concluding with the final and the third-place playoff on the second day. Each fixture consists of five matches: one women’s singles, two women’s doubles, and two 3v3 contests.

Organizers built anticipation by releasing promotional content featuring Danish national team players identifying An as the world’s top player before officially revealing her entry. An herself confirmed the news through a video message released by the league, telling fans she looks forward to meeting them in December.

Chasing Historic Form Heading into Denmark

An’s participation arrives amid a dominant stretch of play. During the 2025 season, she captured 11 singles titles, matching the single-season record set by Kento Momota in 2019. She finished that year with a 73-4 record across 77 matches, establishing a 94.8% win rate.

Her momentum continued into 2026, where she recorded 10 tournament victories alongside a 66-1 match record and a 50-match winning streak, boasting a 98.5% win rate. Her upcoming trip to Denmark will be her third of the year, following appearances at the Uber Cup in April, where she led South Korea to the title, and the Denmark Open in October, where she successfully defended her crown.

The December invitational gives European audiences another chance to watch the player compete in an exhibition team setting designed to expand the visibility of women’s sports.

The Women’s Badminton League structure differs from conventional individual tour events by emphasizing team strategy and diverse lineup configurations. The four competing teams draw from an international roster of elite professionals and rising prospects.
