Amine Noua sets European career-high scoring record for Unicaja

Amine Noua delivered a career-best performance in European competition on Tuesday, leading Unicaja to a 99-94 victory against Pallacanestro Reggiana. The French forward recorded 27 points, surpassing his previous continental scoring high of 24 points set in November 2025 with Aris, Diario Sur reported. The 27-point output, achieved in 28 minutes, stands as the second-highest scoring mark by a Unicaja player in the Basketball Champions League (BCL), trailing only Kameron Taylor’s 33-point game in March 2025.

Noua has become a central figure in head coach Txus Vidorreta’s rotation since joining the club. His performance on Tuesday marked a significant milestone in a career that has seen him play across multiple European competitions, including stints in the EuroLeague with ASVEL and Fenerbahçe, and the EuroCup with Andorra, Aris, and ASVEL. The French forward has accumulated 142 points of valuation, 30 defensive rebounds, and 17 offensive rebounds this season, serving as a pillar in Vidorreta’s tactical scheme.

Record-breaking perimeter shooting in Málaga

The victory was defined by Unicaja’s efficiency from beyond the arc. The team converted 19 three-pointers, establishing a new club record for European competition. The previous high of 18 triples had been achieved twice: in a 2018 EuroCup game against FIAT Turin and in an October 2025 Basketball Champions League (BCL) clash against Mersin, according to Diario Sur. Historically, the club’s record for triples in the now-defunct Korac Cup stands at 14, set during a 112-86 victory over Le Mans Sarthé Basket on January 10, 2001, while the EuroLeague record remains 17, recorded during a 103-95 loss to Panathinaikos on March 11, 2009.

Matt Thomas paced the effort with six three-pointers, tying the club record for an individual in a BCL game. Noua contributed five of those 19 successful shots, marking a personal best for triples in a single game, surpassing the four he hit for ASVEL against Ratiopharm Ulm in 2019. Unicaja’s total of 19 triples fell just two shy of the BCL record held by Brose Bamberg, which recorded 21 against Casademont Zaragoza in March 2021. Other contributors to the historic mark included Tyler Kalinoski (3), Kendrick Perry (3), Jonathan Barreiro (1), and Simonas Lukosius (1).

Noua leads Liga Endesa in rebounding

Beyond his scoring, Noua has established himself as a versatile presence for Vidorreta. He currently leads the Liga Endesa in rebounding, averaging 8.0 boards per game over the first five rounds of the season. His ability to contribute on both ends of the floor has helped stabilize a frontcourt currently dealing with the absence of Tyson Pérez. Noua ranks third in the ACB for offensive rebounds, trailing only Joel Soriano and Kenneth Faried, and is currently outperforming players like Walter Tavares in that category.

Noua’s tactical awareness has been vital for a team that has faced questions regarding its interior size. Despite standing at 2.02 meters, he has ranked highly in offensive rebounding. Vidorreta has utilized Noua for an average of 26 minutes per game across all competitions, integrating him into the team’s core rotation. His impact was particularly evident during the third quarter against Río Breogán, where he secured critical offensive rebounds and converted several 2+1 plays to fend off a late-game surge.

Statistical rise in the Liga Endesa and BCL

Noua’s current form has made him the team’s second-leading scorer in the domestic league, averaging 14.4 points per game, trailing only Kendrick Perry’s 15.6 average. His efficiency has been particularly notable; he is currently shooting at a 55.6% clip from three-point range, representing the highest accuracy rate of his professional career. Across both the ACB and BCL, he averages 15.9 points per game, maintaining a 39% success rate on three-pointers despite high volume, a figure that mirrors the 44% accuracy he previously maintained in Greece.

This consistency follows a period of transition for the forward. Having played for nine different clubs since leaving ASVEL in 2021, Noua recently expressed to Diario Sur that his primary goal in signing with Unicaja was to find a stable environment for himself and his family. The team had previously expressed interest in his services two seasons ago, following his departure from Granada.
