2026 HEAD Elite Tennis Camp: Lu Yen-hsun Leads 27 Players in Guangzhou

Twenty-seven of China’s top junior tennis players gathered at the Tuchen HEAD International Tennis Park in Guangzhou for a four-day elite training camp led by former world No. 33 Lu Yen-hsun, who returned for a second year to mentor the next generation of Chinese tennis talent, china.qianlong.com reported.

The 2026 Team HEAD Elite Tennis Camp ran from Oct. 26 to 29, immediately following the conclusion of the 2026 HEAD Super Nova Tennis Championship finals. The camp brought together players in three age groups — U10, U12 and U14 — all drawn from the championship finals’ group winners and runners-up along with HEAD-signed players.

Six Hours a Day Across Five Courts

The camp operated on five courts at the Guangzhou venue, with players training six hours daily — three hours each in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon and in the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Coaches first assessed each player’s fundamental technique, then split the group accordingly.

The first day focused on forehands and backhands, including advanced patterns such as forehand down-the-line and cross-court inside-out attacks. The second day covered serving, returns, volleys, overheads and half-volleys, with attention to the differences between first and second serves and doubles volley positioning. The third day addressed the slice, sliding footwork and combined tactical drills. A closing-day match on the fourth day served as a test of what the players had absorbed.

Each of the 27 players also received a custom HEAD gift pack filled with the brand’s products.

From Camp to Competition

The camp closed on Oct. 29 with players carrying the experience into their next competitive outings, with organizers expressing hope that they would meet again at the 2027 edition of the camp.
