Tribais leads youth flag football call-ups for Brazil National Team

Tribais Leads State Representation at Parque CERET

Among the participating clubs, Tribais de São José dos Campos leads the selections with 13 athletes called up to the São Paulo camp. Following closely behind are 4FUN from Santos, Corinthians Steamrollers from São Paulo, and First Down, also based in the capital, with eight representatives each. Braves Academy from Sorocaba contributed six names to the initial roster.

The evaluation camp at Parque CERET serves as the opening phase of a broad selection process managed by the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol Americano, the governing body for the sport across the country. Coaches will continue monitoring young prospects during the national youth flag football championship scheduled for November, ensuring the current list remains fluid ahead of subsequent evaluations.

The Road to Los Angeles 2028 and Long-Term Development

The active talent search ties directly into the upcoming Olympic debut of flag football at the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles. According to institutional vice president Rakel Barros, systematic planning for the youth divisions began in June 2025 to fortify both the men’s and women’s national programs for sustained international competition.

Barros emphasized that immersing teenagers in national team training routines alongside peers from diverse geographic regions builds essential confidence and institutional belonging. This pipeline is designed to ease the eventual transition of young competitors into the senior national squad, known as the Brasil Onças.

Upcoming Evaluation Milestones

Following the ongoing trials in São Paulo and the upcoming November youth championships, the coaching staff has scheduled an additional round of in-person evaluation camps for 2027. That subsequent evaluation window precedes the eventual selection of the definitive national roster.
