South Korea successfully defended its men’s team recurve archery title at the Asian Games on Thursday, defeating India 5-1 in the final at the Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square in Okazaki, Japan, Yonhap News Agency reported. The gold-medal victory capped a productive day for the nation’s recurve squad, coming just hours after the South Korean women’s team claimed silver and the mixed team secured bronze.
Trio Claims Gold Against India
The winning South Korean men’s team featured veteran archers Lee Woo-seok, Kim Je-deok, and Kim Woo-jin. Facing an aggressive Indian side in the gold-medal match, the trio managed the windy conditions at the venue roughly 50 kilometers southeast of Nagoya to secure the 5-1 match score.
For Lee and Kim Je-deok, the result marks a repeat of their previous Asian Games success. Both archers previously won team gold at the 2023 Asian Games, though they competed alongside Oh Jin-hyek at that tournament. Kim Woo-jin brings even deeper tournament history to the roster, having won team gold back at the 2010 Asian Games before taking silver alongside Lee and Oh in 2018.
Recurve Squad Sweeps Podiums in Japan
Thursday’s final concluded a busy medal sweep for South Korea’s recurve archers in the Aichi-Nagoya competition. Earlier in the day, the South Korean women’s team finished with a silver medal, while the mixed recurve pairing added a bronze to the delegation’s tally.
The tournament venue in Okazaki hosted the head-to-head eliminations and medal rounds as part of the broader regional games program taking place across Aichi Prefecture.
