Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Plaza final showdown
The gold-medal match featured a high-scoring duel where Kim edged out Chang by a four-point margin, finishing with a 149-145 scorecard. The venue in Okazaki hosted two days of intense compound archery competition, during which the South Korean delegation collected a total of four medals: one gold, one silver, and two bronze. The individual men’s compound bracket has previously been contested at the Asian Games in 2014 and 2023, making Kim the first South Korean archer to capture the gold in this specific discipline.
Sweet revenge following team bronze setback
Thursday’s final served as a moment of redemption for Kim, who faced Chang just one day after Chinese Taipei defeated South Korea in the bronze-medal match of the men’s team compound event. Kim’s extensive international résumé includes previous Asian Games podium finishes: gold in the men’s team event and silver in the mixed team event in 2018, followed by another silver in the men’s team event in 2023.
Upcoming recurve events scheduled through Saturday
Archery competition at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games continues on Friday with the recurve team events. The schedule proceeds on Saturday with the individual recurve brackets, concluding the sport’s program for the multi-sport continental gathering.
