Saint-Bruno Baseball Players Win 17U AAA Provincial Championship

Three baseball players from Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville captured the 2026 17U AAA provincial championship in Quebec City, capping a dominant summer season that also included a national title, local publication Les Versants reported.

Victory in Quebec City

Léo Masse, Vincent Ménard, and Ian Ménard secured the gold medal at the provincial tournament, which ran from September 4 to 7, 2026. Playing for the Patriotes de l’école secondaire De Mortagne, the trio helped their team defeat the Riverains du Bas-Saint-Laurent Rivière-du-Loup in the tournament final. The competition was overseen by the Ligue du Réseau de développement AAA/Sport-Études.

A Second Gold Medal of the Summer

For Léo Masse and the Ménard brothers, the provincial victory marks their second major tournament title of the year. Earlier this summer, the trio won gold at the Baseball Canada Cup in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, representing Team Quebec in the under-17 division. “After the Canadian championship with Team Quebec, they won the provincial championship with the Patriotes Rive-Sud team!” parent Pierre Masse told Les Versants, describing the run as a “not-bad season.”

Pathways After De Mortagne

The provincial championship closes out the high school athletic careers for the three Montarvillois at the De Mortagne sport-études program in Boucherville, where they played together for the past five years. Their baseball paths now diverge at the post-secondary level. Léo Masse has moved on to the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball in Alberta for a sixth year of high school. Vincent Ménard has joined the Lynx of Cégep Édouard-Montpetit alongside the elite junior Guerriers de Granby, while Ian Ménard joins the elite junior Ducs de Longueuil after being protected by the organization over the summer.
