Riccardo Pittis Named President of Universo Treviso Basket

Riccardo Pittis Assumes Presidency at Universo Treviso Basket

Riccardo Pittis returns to the forefront of the city’s basketball leadership as the new president of Universo Treviso Basket. Shareholders confirmed the appointment during a formal assembly on October 29, establishing the organization’s governance for the next two years.

Alongside the presidential transition, the assembly reviewed and officially approved the financial statements for the 2025/2026 season, which concluded on June 30. The newly appointed board of directors will steer the club through its upcoming sporting campaigns with a structured administrative team.

New Board of Directors and Executive Assignments

The newly formed board brings together familiar administrative figures and club stakeholders to manage operations over the next two years. Tazio Mazzocato steps into the role of vice president, supporting Pittis at the executive level.

The remaining board seats are filled by Matteo Contento, Rodolfo Bigolin, and Marco Fabbrini. Within this structure, Rodolfo Bigolin assumes the additional responsibility of amministratore delegato, overseeing the day-to-day administrative functions of the professional basketball organization.

A Storied Career Rooted in Italian Basketball

Born in Milan in 1969, Pittis established himself as a definitive figure in Italian basketball across the 1980s and 2000s. He began his professional career with Olimpia Milano, securing numerous domestic and European trophies before making a transfer to Benetton Treviso in 1993.

During his tenure with the white-and-green squad, Pittis collected multiple major honors, including three scudetti and two Coppe Italia, cementing his status as a symbol of the club. At the international level, he represented the Italian national team and earned a silver medal at the 1997 European Championship.

From the Court to Club Administration

Following his retirement as a player in 2004, Pittis maintained an active presence in basketball through television commentary and as a team manager for the Italian national team. He also contributed directly to the founding of the Universo Treviso project, which was established to preserve competitive basketball in the city following the conclusion of the Benetton era.

His latest appointment brings his career full circle, shifting his focus from his historic playing days and media roles back to direct leadership within the local sporting institution.
