Guided architectural tours open at Puerta de Hierro
The COAM archery pavilion in Madrid’s Puerta de Hierro sports park, located along the Manzanares River, is opening its doors for a guided architectural tour limited to 25 people per visit, COAM reported.
Axial pathways shape the riverside sports grounds
The sprawling sports grounds feature recreational, service, and athletic facilities noted for their architectural value, COAM reported. An axial pathway lined by plane trees organizes and structures the entire enclosure, with smaller structures positioned on both sides within the clearings of this leafy corridor.
Cabin design concepts draw on silence and tension
Architects designed the archery structure to resemble a cabin situated in a clearing within the forest, positioned near the end of the visitor route in a natural, landscape-oriented manner, COAM reported. The design draws on abstract architectural concepts such as trajectory, physical tension, concentration, and silence to shape the athletic space.
Mies van der Rohe precision informs lighting framework
The building targets the construction precision of a Mies van der Rohe work designed to capture silence, featuring uniform and controlled lighting, COAM reported. The structure relies on an efficient, economical, and simple framework without formal ostentation, incorporating small interior courtyards and filtered lighting to moderate the solemn atmosphere of drawing a bow.
Online registration enforces strict capacity limits
Access to the architectural tour requires prior registration through an online form, with capacity strictly capped at 25 participants per visit, COAM reported. The organization stated that data collected via the registration form will be transmitted exclusively for access control and security purposes to the building’s designated security personnel upon request.
