Three young archers from the rural commune of Paso del Sapo will make their competitive debut this weekend at the Don Edmundo grounds near Los Alerces National Park in Chubut, Argentina, competing in a double-header 3D archery tournament for the Copa CARPO.
Regional Integration and Equipment Support
The participation of the young athletes was made possible through a collaborative effort with Chubut Deportes, the provincial sports agency. Instructors Denis and Daniela completed training courses at the Club de Arquería Andino Patagónico (CARPO), subsequently securing a municipal and provincial rollout that equipped the remote community with bows and dozens of arrows. Nicolás Ripa, a representative of the organizing club, emphasized the dedication of the local instructors to ensuring all children have access to the sport.
Conceived by Giuliano Scaglioni within the Andean organization, the Copa CARPO series balances internal club competition with broader comertal outreach. Organizers maintain active dialogue with neighboring communities, including Futaleufú across the border in Chile, to expand the discipline across the region.
Tournament Schedule and Format
Competition gets underway at 10:00 a.m. local time on both Saturday and Sunday. The venue will host approximately 50 athletes representing Esquel, Trevelin, El Maitén, Club CARPO, and Las Mutisias alongside the visiting contingent from Paso del Sapo.
Following a midday buffet offering traditional choripanes and hamburgers—which helps fund ongoing club development—archers will contest the afternoon elimination rounds. Ripa noted that the knockout stages serve a primarily educational purpose, preparing participants for official tournaments where elimination formats frequently apply.
Simultaneous National Representation
While the cordilleran venue hosts the regional double-header, the host club will simultaneously field two competitors at the 3D National Final in Berazategui, organized by the Tiro Federal de la Plata.
